Dr Liam Conroy recieved the EFIC Pain Champion Award at an award ceremony held at the Bi-annual EFIC Scientific Meeting, in Valentia in September.  The award was in recognition of his commitment to patients and to education in pain medicine over many years.

Dr Conroy was actively involved in the original Faculty of Anaesthesia at RCSI and latterly in the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland and the Faculty of Pain Medicine.  For the past three years he has served as Chairman of the European Diploma in Pain Medicine, based at the University of Leuven.

Prior to this he served as an examiner in the College since 1991 and was actively involved together with Dr Ken Lowry and Dr Ian Surgeon  in running examination courses and examinations in Riyadh and Oman.
