COLLEGE OF ANAESTHESIOLOGISTS TO APPOINT CLINICAL LEAD IN PATIENT SAFETY

Dublin, September 17th, 2019: The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI) have today announced the recruitment of a National Clinical Lead in Patient Safety. In the 72nd World Health Assembly in May this year a resolution on “Global Action on Patient Safety” was adopted. This resolution urges member states to recognise patient safety as a key health priority and take concerted effort to reduce patient harm in the healthcare setting. BJA/RCoA – CAI Collaborative Grant – Applications now open

The BJA/CAI Collaborative Research Grant is offered initially in NIAA Grants Round 2, which is NOW OPEN for applications with a closing date of 20th September. Condolences on death of Professor Brian Kavanagh

It is with great sadness that we learned that Brian Kavanagh passed away on Saturday June 15th, 2019. Brian Kavanagh graduated from University College Dublin in Ireland in 1985. He undertook basic specialist training in Internal Medicine in Dublin then went to the University of Toronto to complete anesthesia residency and fellowship training. He completed additional clinical and research fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Stanford. He was appointed staff anesthesiologist and intensivist at the Toronto General Hospitalin 1994, and establishing his first independent…

The National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) have today announced that an award of up to EU 100K per annum jointly funded by the British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA) and the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI) will be made available to support and stimulate collaboration between investigators in the Republic of Ireland with investigators in the UK (including N. The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland, along with our Malawian Partners, has been shortlisted for an Education Award in ‘The Best International Collaboration Project’ category. This is in recognition for the High Dependency, Obstetrics and Trauma management (HOT) project that takes place in Malawi, with a team from the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland delivering clinical training programmes.
