Join Medical Protection for an informative webinar designed to support International Medical Graduates (IMGs) working in Ireland. This session will explore key medicolegal topics, including patient consent, professional support mechanisms and practical learning points to help clinicians navigate common challenges in practice.

Speakers
Dr Sarah Townley, Deputy Medical Director, Medical Protection
Sarah is Deputy Medical Director at Medical Protection and a Board Member of the MPS Foundation. Prior to joining Medical Protection in 2009, she studied medicine at the University of Leeds and worked as a General Practitioner, with particular interests in intermediate care, mental health, and medical student education.
During her time at Medical Protection, Sarah has held a range of roles including Medicolegal Consultant and Medical Underwriting Policy Lead. She has provided legal and ethical guidance to members on complaints, inquests, clinical negligence claims, regulatory matters, disciplinary proceedings, and criminal cases. Sarah holds a Diploma in Legal Medicine, Membership of the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine, and a CII Certificate.
Sara Grewar, Solicitor and Claims Team Lead, Medical Protection
Sara leads Medical Protection’s Irish Claims Team, which supports members across Ireland who are dealing with claims and related medicolegal matters. The team investigates claims, guides members through the claims process, and works to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Sara joined Medical Protection in 2016 following an extensive career in private legal practice. She has managed many of Medical Protection’s most complex and high-value claims. A graduate of Glasgow University, Sara was admitted as a solicitor in 2004 and regularly delivers education and training sessions at member conferences in Dublin.
Dr Ellen Walshe, Medicolegal Consultant, Medical Protection
Ellen graduated from University College Cork in 1996 and worked in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Intensive Care in Dublin and London. She has worked in the medicolegal field since 2007 and joined Medical Protection in 2020.
Ellen has extensive experience advising and supporting healthcare professionals throughout the UK and Ireland on ethical and legal issues, including claims, regulatory and disciplinary investigations, coronial matters, complaints, and professional performance concerns.
