CAI: New roles: Director of Technology Enhanced Learning and Clinical Lead for Simulation-based Training.

As the training of doctors becomes competency-based, the role of simulation and other forms of technology enhanced learning (TEL) have become even more important and widely adopted by Training Bodies. The College of Anaesthesiologists in Ireland plans to enhance its TEL capacity and use of simulation-based training in the coming years. The 2021 CAI-BJA/RCoA grant

The College congratulates Professor Donal Buggy on yet another landmark research funding award. The 2021 CAI-BJA/RCoA grant for original research (€100,000 ) was awarded to a team led by Professor Buggy (Mater, Dublin, instigator and overall Principal Investigator) and Professor Simon Howell (Leeds, UK) for the Management and Outcomes of Perioperative Outcomes of European Diabetic Patients (MOPED) programme.   This is the largest prospective, observational study of the perioperative journey of diabetic patients undergoing of surgery throughout Europe.
