The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland invites medical students on the Island of Ireland to submit an essay on the topic of Patient Safety: “Primum non nocere: an impossible task in medicine?.”

1st Place: The winner will be awarded a €500 prize and must be available to give a short presentation about their essay at the National Patient Safety Conference in November 2023.

2nd Place: €300 plus invitation to National Patient Safety Conference 2023

3rd place: €100 plus invitation to National Patient Safety Conference 2023

The competition is open to all students in Medical Schools on the Island of Ireland.

The essay is limited to 1000 words and 5 references. References, in either Vancouver or Harvard referencing style, are excluded from the final word count.

Applications must include a completed application form and essay. Please email your submission with the attached application form to jgonzalez@coa.ie by Friday 28th April 2023.
