📅 When
25th – 26th February 2027
The CAI will support 2 Specialist Anaesthesiology Trainees (in SAT years 6 and 7 at the time of the conference) to attend this innovative conference.
📧 A cover letter addressing the selection criteria below, curriculum vitae and the names of 2 referees are to be submitted to Lauren McKenna at the CAI by email to training@coa.ie by 5pm Tuesday 2nd November 2026.
🌟 Background
Following the successful inaugural Emerging Leaders Conference (ELC) in 2026, The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland will again run this meeting in February 2027. Now renamed Emerging & Established Leaders Conference (EELC), it is specifically designed for newly appointed locum and substantive consultant anaesthesiologists, critical care medicine consultants and pain specialists.
💡 This conference draws from the experience of the ELC ANZCA, which usually runs in conjunction with the ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting. The ELC is considered more a “think tank” rather than a series of presentations for digestion, with open discussion and shared learning encouraged.
🤝 EELC Ireland will be a prestigious two-day meeting with the purpose of developing leadership capabilities in new or recently appointed consultants identified as being significant future contributors to our profession and the College.
Additionally, it aims to foster current and/or future leaders in anaesthesiology, critical care and pain medicine, to encourage new Fellow engagement with CAI, and to strengthen relationships between Fellows.
🏅 To be nominated as a scholar at the Irish EELC is an honour and should provide encouragement for the SAT trainee to participate further in the wider affairs of the specialty.
🎓 Selection of a CAI Delegate to EELC 2027
The CAI will nominate 2 delegates to attend the EELC in February 2027.
📝 Application and Selection
A covering letter addressing the selection criteria, curriculum vitae and the names of 2 referees are to be submitted to Lauren McKenna at the CAI by email to training@coa.ie.
Following the closing date, nominations will be distributed to members of the judging committee. Once the successful delegates have been selected, their details will be forwarded to the EELC secretariat, and further information will be available thereafter.
