10th Anniversary of the College of Anaesthesiologists Simulation Training (CAST) programme On March 26th, 2020, CAST is celebrating 10 years since the delivery of the first simulation training day at the College. The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI) were the first Irish Postgraduate Medical Training Body to incorporate simulation into their training programme.   This course focuses on intra-operative emergencies. It offers delegates the opportunity to practice managing rare, but potentially life-threatening scenarios in a safe setting, and introduces them to the concepts of crisis resource management. There is a strong focus on the impact of human factors in emergencies.  This course is suitable for Anaesthesiologists registered for PCS with CAI.   The Advanced Simulation in Critical Care is a simulation-based training day which includes advanced critical care scenarios such as single- and multi-organ failure, airway and trauma cases. The course will be delivered with interactive case-based discussions. The course is ideal for senior Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors who are registered for PCS with the CAI  as well as Fellows with a special interest in Intensive Care Medicine. Due to the COVID-19 this course has been posponed until further notice.

Council Elections 2020 In accordance with the Standing Orders of the Council of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland 3 vacancies arise on Council this year. All Fellows of the College, In Good Standing, of not less than three academic years duration on the date fixed for the election, are eligible for election to the Council. The Election to fill the vacancies thus occurring, will be conducted electronically with opening of balloting on Monday 16th March 2020 and closing of balloting on Friday 1st May 2020.
